If life had worked out the way I planned it.....

Inspiring, Spiritual SignificanceChloë RainComment

If life had worked out the way I planned it,  I would have gotten engaged on my 30th birthday, instead of breaking up. I'd be living in suburb and planning barbecues and going to the gym and wondering why I was unhappy inside and maybe even blaming it on my marriage.

Instead of climbing mountains on Mondays to see flocks of green parrots fly by through windows of ancient ruins of absolute structural mystery.

If life had worked out the way I planned it, I would have gone into the Peace Corps out of college and studied aboriginal cultures and made some amazing discovery on the evolution of man.

Instead, I got recruited into an executive management program of a national Insurance Company, and was trained to be an Underwriter. Then spent 6 years participating in the laws and economics of insurance and financial fiduciary of the political status of a multi-billion dollar industry.

Designed to protect them, not us.

If life had worked out the way I planned it, I would have become a multimillionaire real-estate developer, traveling the world negotiating land management deals, building hotels, and "world class" restaurants with celebrity chefs.

Instead of exploring the world negotiating epic adventures,  taking pictures, friending world class human beings and eating love cooked meals in people's homes that have invited me into their lives.

If life had worked out the way I planned it, I would be having a distant and cool relationship with the two people who raised me on organic food and Bob Dylan.  The people I had felt most of my life "didn't know me and couldn't understand me."

Instead, I live across the stream from my parents, enjoying dinners together almost every night made from garden vegetables and handmade desserts with ingredients my Mom has grown with love. Dad still "doesn't understand me" {smile} but held me when I cried from heartbreak. Showed  me how to protect my art piece and proudly explained how to safely transport it to the Art Gallery where my art is being shown this week.

If life had worked out the way I planned it, I would be living in Paris right now drinking coffee and champagne, alone while writing my memoir. Instead of being in the Shenandoah Valley eating gourmet venison dishes, drinking herbal moonshine, living in a community of lifelong friends, right next door to my family, writing my first book {hopefully of many, as I grow and mature as a writer and human being.}

If life had worked out the way I planned it, I would not have returned home.

Not necessarily to a place, but to a feeling of BEing home.

If life had worked out the way I planned it, I would not have followed my heart, that has lead me to have the most extraordinary experiences, and love affairs of my lifetime. And the gigs not up just yet.

If life had worked out the way I planned it, I would have found myself climbing endless steps on the stairmaster, shopping for yet another thing that I hoped would make me happy, and contemplating how I will ever get myself out of credit card debt.

Instead of climbing mountains, watching the sun go down while sitting on the edge of cliffs, overlooking archeological ruins, contemplating how good my life has become.

If life had worked out the way I planned it, I would not have become this Me. The one I have come to know and love and so deeply cherish.

Funny how things work out.

How could I have found my way home, and come to understand myself and my desires, if life had worked out the way I planned it?

This lover of life, I am. This happy woman, I am. This creative being, I am. This writer, this artist, this adventurer, I am.

Life wouldn't have worked out this way, if the plans had been left up to me.

And I would have missed out on so much... I would have missed out on so much LIFE and so much ME, if life had worked out the way I planned it.

Just saying.

You don't figure it out first and then go forward... You go into the unknown, and then you figure it out.

Our purpose, the meaning of it all, is revealed to us one step along the journey at a time. If we’re confused, or feel stuck, or are frustrated because we don’t know what to do next, the thing for us to do is to take the next step, without knowing.

Sometimes you just know that life is calling you to take a leap of faith and change your current circumstances, but you just don't know how.

Anything is possible once we find our own unique way of connecting with our divine source.

Once you find your own connection to your heart and your creative imagination the change you experience becomes visible, the internal shift creates external effects.

You look different, you feel different, you think different. The doors fly open.

LET THE DIVINE TAKE THE LEAD: You will learn to trust in synchronicity and learn to live in sacred time, to allow the universe to conspire on your behalf.

Little wonder then that if we prefer the appearance of stability or clear unobstructed vision we will manufacture fake narratives to replace the complexity, changeability and raw beauty of real ones, especially if the stories we always wanted to be true seem to shimmer and disappear.
