Reflections on leaving Paris

Chloë RainComment

You know what's amazing about falling in love?

The deeper I fall, the more beautiful and attractive I find other human beings.  The features I recently may have worried were flaws, now seem exceptional uniquities,  beautiful in their creation. Their faces, their noses, the way their eyebrows are shaped, or the curl in their hair, or the balding spot on the crown of their head, an asymmetric smile with gums. I find myself enjoying and taking in the differences. I know I've come across this notion time and time again amongst my beloved quotables and inspirational tid bits..... all is love, all is one....

I think I'm starting to see, I feel I'm starting to feel.... somehow, I know its true.  All is one.

“I am another you, I am that which you also are."

When I see you, the World stops. It stops and all that exists for me is you and my eyes staring at you. There’s nothing else. No noise, no other people, no thoughts or worries, no yesterday, no tomorrow. The World just stops, and it is a beautiful place, and there is only you and I.

There are no big or small miracles. They are all equal and speak to the need of the moment.

Last night I had dinner with friends and shared in the Galette des Rois  tradition of ringing in the New Year.

Today I brought a baguette home in my purse.

This afternoon was freezing, but the grey cleared just as the sun was going down and I decided to sit and people watch, enjoying quiche and champagne for a late déjeuner.  This evening I attended mass at L'église Saint-Germaine-des-Prés. And as I exited the church, large snowflakes were falling again in the courtyard where holiday lights still adorn the trees. I felt my heart ping as tears welled in my eyes making the scene glitter and sparkle in the snow and the lights.

I have had a love affair in Paris.

It seems all of my wishes about this journey have come true.
