succulent kisses and peach juice....

An Impromptu Peach Poem

by Chloë Rain

Today I am humbly reminded to look up,

see the abundance of Nature,

Nourishment, and beauty all around me.

As I exited my front door and walked past the peach tree

As I do often times several times a day,

There a half eaten ripe peach lay at my feet.

I had scared some joyous squirrel from his afternoon feast

And as I raised my head to look at the tree I was amazed by the plentiful bounty of fruit on the branches.

I hadn't noticed every time I walked past that peach tree, to and from some place "important" that I should be,

Nature was blossoming, bearing fruit, and blessing me with her mighty abundance and sweet fruitfulness.

I am humbled.

Ah, the sweetness.

I imagine succulent peach kisses,

and juicy dribbles running off my chin caught by the elbow of the sleeve of my favorite worn summer shirt.

I raise my head and gaze into your eyes,

Licking my lips.
