Escaping Corporate Life, An Awakening

I’d always had a nagging sensation that there was more to life than what I was experiencing. When I witnessed a fatal accident on New Year's Eve, my very tightly bound life began to unravel. Watching the first drops of blood fall onto the pavement I was spun into a memory of my own near death experience several years before this incident. In that moment I knew I had not been truly living. In the weeks that ensued, I was broken open into a personal inquiry that ultimately landed me on top of a mountain contemplating throwing myself off the cliff.

There was something else lurking in the shadows, an illness that was beginning to take its physical toll. My hair began to fall out, I was eternally exhausted, and I was exhibiting the precursors of MS. I felt I had to change my life or die.

A Journey of Self Discovery

When I resigned from my executive career of nearly 15 years, I thought it was to save my life and to get healthy, I thought it was temporary. I hoped I was going to fall in love and get married. What life had in store for me, however, was something much greater than I could imagine.

My desire to heal took me to powerful places around the world. I went to the Arctic Circle of Northern Norway, the Stone Circles of Ireland and Western Europe, then to the high mountains of Peru, and the Amazon jungle, as well as other places in the seen and unseen realms. I immersed myself in the ancient wisdom teachings, and learned shamanic and energy medicine practices, as well as earth based therapies.

Explore Deeply is Born

In 2010, I founded Explore Deeply and started sharing these mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness techniques to others.

Through my work I hope to inspire more people to listen to their soul’s calling, and cause them to look a little closer at themselves, at the natural environment that surrounds us, and at other people and our beliefs of separation around race, culture, and religion.

From the Mountains of Virginia to the Arctic Circle

I am originally from the mountains of Virginia in North America, and have lived along the Puget Sound in Washington state, as well as up and down the east coast. Since my first visit to Lofoten in 2010, I felt called to move to the Arctic Circle of Norway to learn about the traditions of the indigenous people of the North.

While living above the Arctic Circle, I completed four years of research on the sacred landscape of Sápmi, the territory of the indigenous Sámi people. My current work is dedicated to preserving and promoting the Arctic’s natural and cultural resources, as the effect of our contributions to global warming become more apparent in our daily lives.

Awaken Your Divine Potential through Shamanic Methods

Although many of us hear the call of our inner desires and dreams, it is often difficult to find the path forward to our own awakening. Learning to explore deeply is opening to the ultimate possibility of your life. Your internal awakening opens the door to a truly unimaginable possibility.

Our life purpose is to use our own personal transformation to help transform society.

Abstract

This thesis explores the concept of sacred in Sapmi, tracing the trails of its existence through the historical past into more contemporary ideologies affecting recent events. This inquiry attempts to describe the essence of Sami self-consciousness through their unique tradition of interconnectedness, by asking if the concept of sacred has value and place in the struggles of the Sami today, to preserve their cultural identity, as well as their ability to practice their beliefs and traditional livelihoods.
