Music is Medicine.
Music is Medicine. Watch, listen, be inspired. Be healed.
Anilah is the solo project of vocalist and composer Dréa Drury, a musician based in the Selkirk Mountains of Western Canada.
Her inspirations draw from traditional shamanic sound practices, sacred chant, dark tribal, and Indian Classical. She has studied the art of using the voice as a healing modality with gifted teachers such as Ali Akbar Khan, Shweta Jhaveri, and Silvia Nakkach. This has led to her own exploration of the esoteric application of sound, as well as psychoacoustic engineering, which she now weaves into the tapestry of her musical expression. She approaches her voice and composition as practices which are deeply integrated with the remote landscapes where she was raised.
Her love for nature, wildness, and the world of the elements inspires her to write music which directly reflects their essence. Weaving a soundscape that is ethereal, haunting, and ancient, Dréa’s intention is to create music which aids in cathartic and transformative experience.
Music is medicine.
This chant pays respect to all indigenous people, as well as honors those who walked before us. Download Medicine Chant by Anilah here: http://anilah.bandcamp.com
